Coming Soon: I Am Legend

Release Date: 14 December 2007
This post-apocalyptic science-fiction horror film is the third adaptation based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend, following The Last Man On Earth (1964) starring Vincent Price and The Omega Man (1971) starring Charleton Heston. A 1994 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was narrowly avoided when production ran over-budget. Shwew!

SYNOPSIS: Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable... and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City... and maybe the world. But he is not alone. He is surrounded by "The Infected" - victims of the plague who have mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in the dark and who will devour or infect anyone or anything in their path.

Neville indirectly caused of the fall of man - his government-funded research helped spread the virus, and he now works to redeem himself. Naturally immune, Neville realizes that two percent of the human race must also be immune. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time. For three years, Neville has spent his days scavenging for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, The Infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville's every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake.

The Brooklyn Bridge served as a location in I Am Legend, at which there was a $5 million scene filmed, the most expensive scene to date in New York City. See story & photos at The Gothamist.

Following in the footsteps of her brother Jaden, Will Smith's daughter Willow makes her film debut as Marley, Neville's daughter. See her in the trailer below!
